Freelance Writing
I started freelance writing after spending ten years as a copywriter for an advertising and marketing firms. But having to go through the stress of extremely demanding deadlines and very strict requirements, not to mention office polities and a daunting daily commute, motivated me to seek other opportunities.
Freelance writing came to me almost by sheer coincidence, as I was spending some time at a friend's party where I overheard someone telling her about what she did for a living. I was eager to learn about what she did, and so I approached her and we conversed about her freelance writing work.
I was simply astounded, and wondered why I hadn't thought of getting into freelance work earlier. Sure, I had the writing background, the ability and time management skills, and the desire to set out and work on my own. So I decided to give freelance writing a shot.
Right off the bat, I started to seek freelance projects not only from the firms that I worked with, which found that giving me freelance projects was very cost effective for them, and saved expenses from having to accommodate me at their office, but from other firms that I found online. Freelance writing became my full time source of income, and I worked from the comfort of my home, saving me that dreaded commute and giving me the peaceful environment I've always wanted.
Freelance writing is an exciting opportunity for skilled and talented writers, but is also a consideration for aspiring writers looking for an outlet where they can apply their talent. Finding freelance work is as easy as going through your network of colleagues, contacting companies directly, and most especially going online and using web sites such as the Freelance Work Exchange.
