Freelance Editing
I started freelance editing as part of a part time gig that eventually led me into pursuing it as a full time career. My true passion is writing, but don't get me wrong. The lucrative opportunity of working as a freelance for many well known publications was alluring enough for me to jump ship and go from writing to editing.
Sure, in order to be a great editor you must be a great writer as well, but with my freelance editing projects I work directly with writers and help them develop their submissions to the point that they are actually happier with their work than before they go through my editing process. Editing is a very tedious process that requires patience and a strong attention to detail, but being a meticulous person I am accustomed to this kind of work.
Many people wonder if editing is the freelance opportunity for them, and they probably ask themselves where they can find freelance editing work. As a writer, my move into freelance editing came naturally as I became heavily involved with the work that I did as a freelance writer for various publications. And so when it came time that a position as an editor arouse, I was already prepared and simply went for it.
But for those looking for freelance editing jobs the challenging way, the first step I would say is to look online. There are many organizations and even individuals seeking editors to go through their work and assist them with improving their writing or brushing up on their work. There are a lot of people seeking the services of a great editor.
Freelance editing can be a rewarding career choice for those
who have a strong interest in written work and those who like
to put in a lot of time utilizing their analytical skills. It's
a great freelance opportunity, and I enjoy it very much! And
there are so many other writing options to explore, including
script writing, play writing and resume writing. There are endless
possibilities in freelance!
