Freelance Copywriting
My first experience doing freelance copywriting work started when I was with a web design firm. I was actually working as a designer at that time, but working with such a small firm, they asked me to come up with some copy for a small corporation's web site. Without hesitation, I started typing away. My background was indeed in writing and communications, so I had no difficulty with expressing the company's visions on the web site.
Ever since then, I pursued both freelance design and freelance
copywriting opportunities, and took in projects for script writing
and play writing as well. There were stressful moments where
I was overwhelmed with work, and moments where I didn't have
any projects and barely made payments on my bills, but all in
all my personal experience as a freelancer has really defined
what I really enjoy doing in life, and I enjoy the flexibility
of working for myself and pursuing freelance work for as long
as I can.
Anybody thinking about getting into freelance copywriting must consider many things. Firstly, is writing your passion? There are many writers that get into freelance work but discover that they neither have the ability nor creative sense to maintain their motivation and find that they were really getting into it just for the lucrative opportunity.
Freelance copywriting is a demanding job, and it does require a lot of insight, creativity, motivation and the ability to transfer writing skills from one area to another. Whether working with a small company or a large corporation, with an individual or organization, a freelance copywriter must always be able to deliver.
With that in mind, freelance copywriting is not an opportunity for everyone. But those who seek freelance copywriting opportunities can find work in many different places.
