Freelance Computer Programmer
I was at a computer show in San Francisco last weekend and I
met a freelance computer programmer who had a display booth.
Apparently, he was recruiting for his newly formed business
that provided computer programmers with freelance work. It was
more or less like a job agency, except he specialized in providing
skilled and experienced programmers looking for work whether
part time or full time with freelance project placements.
As a computer science student, the thought of becoming a freelance computer programmer never occurred to me, especially since I was in a program where they provided us with work placements that paid us while we were doing work for the various corporations that we did programming for. But when I realized the flexibility that became associated with such a freelance position, I was forced to open my eyes and realized that I should keep my options open.
And so I did some research on the possibility of becoming a freelance computer programmer and asked the person who was at the booth for more information, and where I could possibly go to get started. He gave me an information guide, and proceeded to tell me that his freelance programmers were earning up to six figures and beyond, working from home and doing programming freelance, without having to work a second job during the day! This was their full time career.
When I left the computer show, the thought of being a freelance computer programmer continued to linger in my head, and I decided to take on part time freelance projects while I finished my studies.
What can I say? The moment I decided to become a freelance computer programmer was a life changing experience for me. Now, as I graduate from my class, I have many opportunities to continue my freelance computer programmer work.
