Free Lance Work
Free lance work can be interesting, enjoyable and profitable,
too. I first started undertaking contract projects over ten years
ago, and now I'm a successful full-time freelancer.
When I got my first piece of freelance work, I was still
working full time for another company. A friend of mine who knew I
was a writer suggested my name to to a company who needed a hand
with a new brochure.
I wasn't sure about the project at first, as I was already very busy
with my regular job. But the client said I could work on it at
weekends, so I agreed. After all, I had just bought a new house and
had a big mortgage to pay, so the extra cash came in very handy.
Anyway, I soon discovered that it was great fun doing freelance
work. It meant that I learned about a new topic, but didn't have
to get too involved. After a couple of weeks, I was free to move on
to something else. One client led to another, and soon I was so busy
at the weekends that something had to go. So I gave up my regular
day job, and started to freelance full time.
Over the last ten years, there have been ups and downs. Yes, there
have been times when I wished I was back in my old, safe job with a
guaranteed income. But most of the time, it has been great to be
involved in the world of freelance work.
Looking back, I wouldn't change a single day. It has been great fun
all along, and I have learned a great deal, too. Best of all, I've
earned more than I would have if I had stuck to my old job.
So if you are considering jumping into the world of freelance
work, I would say, give it a go. After all, if it doesn't work
out, you can always get another job.
