Online Copywriter

Let me share with you a story of a good friend of mine, Billy Hallow, who worked as an online copywriter for a web design company. Ever since he was in college he had started doing freelance writing work, but after finishing his course Billy decided to pursue a career full time as a copywriter. He searched endlessly for opportunities, eventually finding one with a small web design startup.

As the only online copywriter for the company, he was mainly responsible for all the copy that was to go on their clients’ web sites. He would compose, draft and edit copy until it was suitable for the client. In many ways, Billy’s effective communication skills provided amazing advantages to the web design company giving them an edge with their work.

There are many opportunities if you’re looking for work as an online copywriter. Billy is just one of my friends who worked as a copywriter. Others have dabbled in copywriting here and there, while others do freelance work and are regularly busy with projects. I myself have tried entering the field, with my background in writing. But my passion is geared more towards business to business copywriting and writing sales letters on a much larger scale.

Where is the first place to go to find work as an online copywriter? There are many different approaches, but the most effective way it seems is to look for work opportunities on the internet. Finding the work is pretty easy, but it’s actually making your way through other candidates and landing the job which is the hard part.

But don’t fret, because being an online copywriter is a rewarding career and can provide you with income for many years to come.
